Why am I Always Tired?

It feels life is on hold when you're always feeling tired. Tiredness can severely affect your daily activities. There could be medical reasons or irregular sleeping patterns that can give you tiredness. Have a look at the following causes of tiredness and treat them accordingly.

Why am I always Tired

The causes of Tiredness are as follows:

  1.  Anaemia
  2. Eating too Many refine Carbs/Having diabetes
  3. Sleep Apnoea
  4. Depression or Anxiety
  5. Sedentary lifestyle
  6. Glandular Fever
  7. Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
  8. Coeliac Disease
  9. Underactive Thyroid

Anaemia:

Anaemia is the most common reason for tiredness, especially in women. It's the deficiency of iron in the body. When a body is iron deficient then it's a lower number of high-quality red blood cells. This deficiency leads to tiredness and other medical conditions. Most women, have heavy periods and suffer from anaemia. Also, a poor diet can result in iron deficiency.

Eating too Many refine Carbs/having diabetes:

Sugar gives energy to your body but consuming too many carbohydrates can make you feel tired and drained. When you eat any food that is high in carbohydrates, it gives you a sudden boost in blood sugar level and then drops after a few minutes. These sudden changes in blood sugar levels make you exhausted and feel tired. Too much sugar is bad for health for more details check the post; '5 Reasons Too Much Sugar is Bad for You'

Also, if you have diabetes type 1 or type 2 then it also makes you feel tired. Consuming too much sugar or taking stress can cause diabetes. Sometimes it's genetic. Check with the doctor if you've got diabetes symptoms like feeling parched and going to pee often, especially at the night.

Sleep Apnoea:

Sleep Apnoea is a medical condition in which your throat narrows or closes causing interruptions in breathing. These interruptions give snoring and wake you up at the night. Loud snoring can be annoying for others around you and could result in long-term conditions so it's better to check with the doctor if you think you've sleep apnea. This medical condition affects your sleep and results in tiredness.

Depression or Anxiety:

Depression and anxiety can also be a reason for tiredness. In depression, people feel sad and low. Sometimes you wake up early or have difficulty in a good quality sleep which leads to tiredness. In anxiety, people feel worried and irritated, and their energy drains in an uncontrolled feeling of anxiety. For controlling symptoms of anxiety and depression you can check the post, 7 Mental Health Tips that are Approved by Therapists.

Sedentary Lifestyle:

Being lazy can cause low energy levels in the body. Add activities in your life, like exercising, bicycling, swimming or just walking to make yourselves active. You might feel low in energy but after exercise, you can feel better. Sometimes condition like chronic fatigue syndrome drains energy but studies showed that adding activities in life can also help you with this syndrome.

Glandular Fever:

It's a viral infection that gives you fever, sore throat, and swollen glands. If you've got a glandular fever then it takes up to 4-6 weeks to clear up this infection but tiredness lingers on for several months.

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome:

It's a syndrome that can badly affect your life and can take 4 months to clear up. There are different treatments available for curing this syndrome. You can check its symptoms in the post; 'What is chronic fatigue syndrome'.

Coeliac Disease:

Coeliac disease is a malady in which the immune system starts reacting to gluten. Many people don't know about it and suffer tiredness, anaemia, bloating and weight loss. If you think your symptoms match this disease then take an appointment with the doctor. He/She will ask you for a blood test.

Underactive Thyroid:

Underactive thyroid is common, especially in women. It happens with age. When you have an underactive thyroid then it means you have a low level of thyroid hormones in the body that cause muscle aches, dry skin, and tiredness. For checking the thyroid level, you need to give a blood test.

  11. Sleep is so important for everyone. It is a chance to give our mind and body the rest it needs to recover from daily life. I feel tired if either I get too much sleep or not enough. 6 hours of good sleep seems to work well for me.
